She's Walking!

Abigail took her first tentative steps about two weeks ago.  Since then she's been practicing a lot, trying to walk without holding on to things.  Just within the last couple of days has she really started walking by herself all over the house.  I guess this means our baby has officially turned into a toddler!

Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated Abigail's first birthday on Saturday with some of our close friends.  We played, ate lots of food, opened gifts, and Abigail enjoyed her smash cake.  It was a great time!

 

 

Daniel took the day off work for Abigail's birthday today.  We spent the special day together as a family doing things that Abigail would enjoy.  This afternoon was warm and sunny so we hiked the trails at a local reserve and then stopped at Lynch Park to watch the ocean waves crashing on the rocks.  Abigail loved her time outdoors!

Dear Abigail,

Today you turn one year old!  Where did this year go?  You have grown and changed so much and we have loved watching your personality blossom.  You are such a sweet, happy, and smart little girl who loves to laugh, squeal and babble.  We look forward to celebrating all the new milestones you will reach this next year and can't wait to see the little girl that you will become.  We love you very much and are thankful that God gave you to us.  We are so blessed!

11 Months Old

Abigail is 10 months old!

How can it be that Abigail is 10 months old already?!  This past month has been a lot of fun.  Abby's personality is really starting to come through.  She laughs and giggles a lot and loves to play with mommy and daddy.  She picks on Makwa, pulling on his feet and ears, and tries to climb up on him when he lets her.  She also really likes music and sometimes even hums along.

Probably the biggest milestone for us is that Abigail has finally started sleeping at night.  Up until she turned nine months old, she was still waking every two hours and having a difficult time getting back to sleep.  I talked with her pediatrician and we came up with a plan to help her learn to get back to sleep on her own.  Amazingly, it worked the first night and now everyone has been sleeping well!

 

 

The Blizzard of 2015

The snow began to fall Monday afternoon, leaving a dusting on the ground by early evening.  The winds began to blow during the evening and the blizzard intensified overnight.  By morning Daniel almost couldn't get outside as about a foot of snow covered the sidewalk and pushed up against the door.  It continued to snow, sometimes 2-3 inches per hour, throughout the day and into the night.  In the end we were left with about 30 inches of new snow on the ground.  It took Daniel most of the day to clear the driveway and sidewalks.  Thankfully we didn't lose any power during this storm and we stayed warm by the fire, watching the news and playing with Abby.
